The Initiative for Diversity in Civic Leadership (IDCL) offers an intensive 16-week training program for current and aspiring candidates, appointees, public servants and campaign staff. The mission of IDCL is to develop the next generation of leaders of color committed to public service to ensure a more representative democracy and a diverse civic community in Greater Boston. Main program components include: interactive sessions provided by field operatives, experts, government officials, academics and practitioners; a weekend retreat focused on leadership and candidate training; individualized mentoring, coaching; networking events; web-based interactive discussions; access to online training; and hands-on fundraising experience.

 

IDCL is a three-year partnership effort with MassVOTE and Suffolk University. ¿Oíste? serves as the lead management partner. The program has graduated 54 individuals over two years and is currently in its last year. IDCL is funded through a funding collaborative including The Boston Foundation, The New Community Fund, the Herman and Frieda Miller Foundation, The Hyams Foundation and Access Strategies Fund.
